Suncoast Chrysler Jeep

Lifting Your Business to New Heights of Productivity

With inventory ranging from $350,000 - $540,000 and a variety of large sheet metal parts that needed to be stored on an upper level, Suncoast Chrysler Jeep’s parts room needed a more efficient and safe way to move parts from level to level than what their current system allowed.

Introduction: Suncoast Chrysler Jeep is a family owned and certified DaimlerChrysler Five Star dealership located in Seminole, FL. The dealership was using a hoist to move wholesale parts to a second level in their parts room.

Situation: Suncoast Chrysler Jeep’s hoist lift was being used to carry hoods, side panels and other heavy wholesale parts to the second floor. The hoist, although it did the job, posed a few problems for the parts room. The hoist was getting older and the parts manager, Joe Mckinney, was finding that it was difficult to get anyone to service it. Joe stated that the biggest problem, however, was that the hoist had to be weight balanced making the lifting process “a bit of a hazard when in use.”

Solution: Suncoast Chrysler Jeep’s owner decided on a vertical lift to solve its parts room material handling needs, an efficient and safer method of moving parts between levels, before seeking out a company to supply it to them. Suncoast decided on Curlin Inc. out of Florida – a full-line materials handling dealer and a participant of Wildeck’s Automotive Specialist program to provide and install a Wildeck freight lift for their parts room. Curlin works with dealerships across Florida supplying them with all their material handling needs.

Results: When asked about how the lift is working, parts manager, Joe Mckinney, stated that it’s working very well for them and is “much safer...for heavy loads.” As for the installation process, Mckinney states that the installation went smoothly and “bolstered [their] overall opinion of Curlin.” In the end Suncoast has replaced a lifting mechanism that was at times difficult to use and hard to service, with a freight lift that was both easy to install and service as well as efficient and safe to use.
